In one of the videos that came up the Thai guy mentioned he only chews on the leaf for a few seconds. Has anyone heard of this?

There is a type of lettuce called 'opium' lettuce. Grows wild in the USA. Takes a lot though, like kratom,  for any benefits.

@peteypyro I have some “wild lettuce”that helps me chill/get better rest.   Not sure it’s this same lettuce

@will

Just watched show last night from 2017 on Hulu, Hamilton’s Pharmacopeia, About Kratom.  Showed a guy chewing A leaf for a few secs and spitting out. Was asked why such a short time, but I don’t think he answered. Just smiled.

strange how the COVID photos (of the microscopic view) look a lot like the kratom flower!   One is miraculously beautiful and one is too tiny to see AND AVOID.

@Julieanne-Marie-Klinger Hamilton is such an interesting trail blazer of the life of crash test dummy activities I’m always doing with different types of herbs and even different strains of kratom from different vendors, since they are all so different (except for the ones sharing tons of powder, all of which are similar and helpful)...

Thanks for posting the photo.  It looks a lot like Hamilton, but I haven’t seen his series in months

it is Hamilton from the kratom episode. That was in 2017.

 Its because the 7hydroxy Mitragynine is very water soluble in the mouth. The regular mitragynine is in 'base' form, and 'lipid soluble'. That means it's better dissolved into an oily or organic solvent, not the chemistry encountered in the human mouth. The lemon's citric acid in tea helps to convert insoluble mitragynines into water soluble ones. The chemistry is beyond even this pyro.
