Question from a customer about kratom vein colors

Question from a customer about kratom vein colors

Hello,

I see that the four vein colours of your cuttings and plants are priced slightly differently. What is the reason for this? I saw on your blog a video showing the normal variations in vein colour on one plant, and I have read elsewhere that vein colour is mostly unimportant. Do these vein colours refer to specific varieties? I have heard common varieties historically on the market are Rifat, Bumblebee, Red Vein Thai and Pink Indo/Elephant/something

Besides this, I am curious: does your co-op grow M. hirsuta (or other species) as well as M. speciosa?

Thank you very much for your time. It seems you are all doing very good work down there and i can’t wait to see how your farms do in the future.. I absolutely love all of the close up and clear videos and pictures you post showing the trees blowing around.

My Response:

The color of a kratom vein are determined by the content of mytrogynan (alkaloids) in the vein. The purpose of producing mytrogynan is to protect the tree from insects and animals from eating the leaf. Its also a stress mechanism. The mytrogynan is why the leaf is so bitter and correlates to strength. Strength also correlates to how mature the leaf is. The more mature the leaf the stronger it will be. When mature leaves mature the alkaloids are sucked back into the tree thru the veins. These leaves will look more yellow. https://kratomwatchdog.com/top...

The more alkaloids in the vein. The more red the vein will be. Purple at the high end of alkaloids. White at the low end of alkaloids. It is possible to see all vein colors grow at the same time on the same tree. (pink, red, purple) more near the bottom as that is where they have roots as that’s where most of the nutrients are. Up the tree will be more (greens and whites). They start getting more color variation the larger they get. https://kratomwatchdog.com/top...

In winter you see mostly white and green with some red.

Spring, mostly green, white, some red, with pink starting to show up.

In summer, Seed pod are poping up, you see green, white, pink, red, purple.

This continues to happens thru Fall.

Should note seed pods are best to pick off the tree in Jan - April. Kratom Vein colors usually have its darkest vein color at the exterior of the plant. Getting lighter as you go inward. But is harder to see in summer - fall as all colors are on the tree.

The difference in price is due to the availability of whats on the trees at the time.

The term pink vein and red vein is also related to a strain of kratom. I have pink vein, green vein rifat, bumble, and red rifat trees. But there are no noticable difference between strains from what I have seen.

Here are some pictures below to show vein colors of leaves.

I do have M. hirsuta. Here is my tree.

Thanks

Fresh Organic American Grown

Snapseed-1-1024x768.jpg

Our very finest product is our whole kratom leaf that is grown in naturally in the USA.

Each fresh leaf is equal to around .8 or 1.2g of dried leaf. Each leaf is picked to ship, for freshness we recommend you select 2day shipping. Your leaf will keep for around eight days in the fridge or 3 – 4 days at room temperature in a sealed bag. Can be air dried to preserve the leaf at which point it can be stored like your typical Kratom leaf or powder. Whole kratom leaf is only available when the trees are flowering, and all of our leaf is picked from trees varying in age from 4 – 12 years old.

Received my first order and just wanted to say..

Thank you. I ordered 30 fresh leaves and am very happy with what came in the mail. A few extra were thrown in either accidentally or to make up for some smaller ones in the batch but regardless more than happy. As someone who eats / makes tea with approximately 5-10g per dose approximately 4-5 leaves chewed the traditional way (vein removed and tucked in cheek) has been enough to equal this. Taste is a lot better fresh too. This is what to expect as far as size.

Thanks again

Question

Hey guys! I'm new to this app and so far this seems like a great place to get tons of info on this wonderful plant! Anyway I recently just ordered 3KG from an Indonesian vendor. It just cleared customs yesterday so I should have it by Monday or Tuesday. My question is should I have any concerns in regards to the leaf not being lab tested? Also can people I'm friends with on Facebook see my posts in this app or would the have to be in this app to see it?

Send in the clones

cloning around today....

Can never have too many plants... or spare leaves for fresh tea...

Dip heavily in IBA rooting hormone. Perlite rich rooting mix...and a bag to keep humidity high.

 Send in the clones...

"All A Clone on a Friday Night" ... home alone for a solo cup solo act...

Here is yet another technique to clone around with. Individually tented or greenhoused clones. This has the great advantage of limiting fungal infections spreading. If a clone cutting has a problem. Then it can be isolated and removed from the other clones, stopping a fungal apocalypse from getting all of your cuttings. Its good for just making one or two clones as well.

NEEDED:   One branch, razor, 'Rootone' rooting hormone, solo cup, clear soft drink cup, 2:1 container rooting mix:perlite, label, and marker. The marker doubles as a dibbler.  Put holes in the bottom of the solo cup for drainage.

Fill with 2:1 mix that WAS wet, but squeezed out to be only damp. Poke hole (dibble) center of mix down to the bottom of the cup.

Trim the clone cutting to leave 2 nodes. One node on the bottom end will have all leaves trimmed back to the stalk. That is wetted and dipped deeply into rooting hormone for a thick coating. It is put in the dribbled hole, gently but firmly pushing the rooting mix around the buried stem. The other above soil node will have a leaf or two, trimmed back to be less than 1 square inch in area. Refer to photos. This is to reduce transpiration/evaporation losses while it is growing new roots.

Ensure that the rooting mix is firmly snuggled around the stem, avoiding air pockets around the stem. Keep it centered so that the leaves, or rather what is left of them, won't touch the clear plastic cup that will cover the lower solo cup. That will reduce the chances of rot from a wet leaf being against a plastic cup.

Label the rig, and snap the clear top cup over the lower red solo cup.  Mine fit perfectly and snap together, but yours may need a piece of duct tape or something to keep a tight seal. You don't want moisture getting out at this point. They love 100% relative humidity and warm feet, to encourage rapid root development.

                Voila. There it is.

One solo solo cup, with it's own dedicated mini greenhouse over it. Keep it in indirect light, and warm, for 4~6 weeks, or until you see roots growing out of the drainage holes in the solo cup.

The leaves will usually begin to grow again once the roots are established.

I like to let them root under the shade of another plant. such as this blooming Turmeric. Check the moisture occasionally by feeling the weight of the cup. If it starts to feel light, water as needed. Never let them dry out or else they will likely die 😪

   Good luck, and GO KRATOM!!

Meet "KRATOM", my support dog 🐕

Good luck and success to all kratom growers. Its an amazing plant indeed!

Late night updates

I almost exclusively work on the app once I "go to bed". Which is great for having a moment to focus but terrible when something goes wrong as I am unable to sleep until I get everything back online.

Good news we are back but I'm working on rolling out some exciting updates for our Facebook crowds. All members will be presented with a setup screen where they join their preferred groups, and select what shows on their home feed.

You can now choose "all groups in one feed" or set a specific group such as "Kratom Growers", Leaf of life, etc.

I'm also adding privacy features and the ability for Facebook users to have their chat or profile button open up their Facebook profile or Facebook messenger chat instead of using the kratom app functionality.

TLDR

There might be some more disruptions as I push out updates during the wee hours of the night.

Has anyone ever moved a mature Kratom tree successfully?

Just sitting here wondering how kratom trees handle moves and how people go about doing that. If anyone has any stories on moving trees, successful or not, I would love to know of any and all experience with this.

New home for the one-year kratoms

spent the morning with a chainsaw taking down two mature grapefruit trees. Ran that chainsaw until I couldn't hardly hold it up anymore. But they're down and the coconut the coir is soaking in water. Hopefully tomorrow will be planting day. Will post a progress picture or two as I go.
