@will

Just watched show last night from 2017 on Hulu, Hamilton’s Pharmacopeia, About Kratom. Showed a guy chewing A leaf for a few secs and spitting out. Was asked why such a short time, but I don’t think he answered. Just smiled.

Its because the 7hydroxy Mitragynine is very water soluble in the mouth. The regular mitragynine is in 'base' form, and 'lipid soluble'. That means it's better dissolved into an oily or organic solvent, not the chemistry encountered in the human mouth. The lemon's citric acid in tea helps to convert insoluble mitragynines into water soluble ones. The chemistry is beyond even this pyro.
its a local thing. Cough syrup , boiled leaves, and other things added like booze. Not a responsible use of kratom. Sorta like a dentist's kids getting hold of daddy's laughing gas tanks and playing with his medications. No laughing matter. Regular straight kratom is not a problem. Unless it competes with big pharma. Or competes with the CIA's sponsored heroin crop.(most likely that's why it was banned in Thailand.)
