Answering questions on Reddit
ManiacMyFriend: Thanks for putting this out there! What time of the year do your trees flower? Me: No problem. Ive been working on documenting my Kratom nursery and putting it all online. I have 200,000 photos and 1000 videos I'm going to be uploading, but it just takes time to put them all up. Currently there are 200 available videos with another 100 in YouTube studio to get worked on. My trees begin producing pods in June. But the cool thing is my largest tree has been producing seed pods for a entire year straight from late June 2018 to early June 2019. I speculate that the reason it started producing seed 2 weeks early this year is because of the change to how we grow our trees. We have begun doing permaculture specifically the root stoute method. Permaculture: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1hWIjYFQCZYH7gtRFfTzTrhYzIpK9wEV The other awesome thing was on Sunday of last week I found that my second largest 10 year old Kratom tree 25ft has started producing seed pod for the first time. I did a write up on it on my app kratomwatchdog https://kratomwatchdog.com/topic/2160/first-kratom-seed-pods-apear-on-10-year-old-kratom-tree ManiacMyFriend: Producing pods year round? Wow that’s amazing!! If you could have several trees doing that, you could really end up with a nice forest of them! And that’s odd the 10 yr old hadn’t started until now. I watched your permaculture vid a while back. Neat that it changes the flowering of the tree. Have any of the pods implanted seeds naturally there and germinated on the ground? Me: I’d think the term producing is incorrect in my last message. I’d say more of developing. This is how a good portion of the lower levels of the tree are looking now. https://youtu.be/MbbHBcUnzpA The tree did produce pods on a single branch on the south west lowest quadrant of the tree. In direct sunlight well into January. They were never destined to be fertile and it were the last seed pods to grow on the tree but they are still trying to develope on the tree now. Looks something like this. https://youtu.be/qHLKJONc-fg Going thru the stages of a Infertile Seed Pods . Here’s a fun one as well. https://youtu.be/5BfProtUWi4 As far as I’m aware there is no set age for the trees to begin to produce seed pods. If someone is aware please post the answer below. It just seamed to be its time. I have a hydroponically grown kratom tree that is 5 years old. Hydroponic Kratom Trees https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1hWIjYFQCZYP_8pyrsl5QYrF3-6WOd8t The guy i picked it up from showed me his other tree. It was producing seed pods and they were both from the same mother. The tree planted in the ground had seed pods on it at some point in its life but had not shown up at around the same time our trees were in full bloom. It was beautiful in the soil. Burgundy sun tanned roots ![alt text](https://i.imgur.com/4aL14Jf.jpg) ![alt text](https://i.imgur.com/YfJTnmU.jpg) ![alt text](https://i.imgur.com/mhrv4sf.jpg) ![alt text](https://i.imgur.com/KHY35Yq.jpg) ![alt text](https://i.imgur.com/ectoUJs.jpg) ![alt text](https://i.imgur.com/Jkk3qxC.jpg) ![alt text](https://i.imgur.com/N623XLG.jpg) Unfortunately no sprouts have turned up from dropping seed onto the ground. I figure the sun drys them up. Kratom can be a easy plant to kill. However, because of the hay we laid down we may be able to rectify this. https://youtu.be/k97wvdFkAC4 This should keep the ground covered and the soil under the hay ideal. Mixed with the nitrogen of the lima beans. https://youtu.be/6s6j-VrF1rE And as you can see my kratom seed pods are fertile https://youtu.be/uV-ohdxM808 so I think it is possible it could happen this year. When the winds hit so hard the tree shakes https://youtu.be/KbJ47I0F-jU the majority of seed pods that come off look like this https://youtu.be/y2rzUwpzPRg . It’s a joy to go out in the morning and always find kratom seed pods on the floor. https://youtu.be/94ClW-_KydA You would always find at least a handful for what felt like 2-3 months

Wonderful pictures of the root ball. Perhaps the first ever close detailed pictures of Mitragyna roots on the internet? Those are amazing trees.
@SubstanceTheSqid Here's a link to 3 of the videos from that shoot. https://kratomwatchdog.com/topic/2173/exposed-roots-of-a-fully-mature-american-kratom-tree https://kratomwatchdog.com/topic/2171/exposed-mature-kratom-tree-roots-part-2 https://kratomwatchdog.com/topic/2172/mature-hydroponically-kratom-tree-put-in-the-ground
