Rooting Cuttings
I am sure everyone has their preferred rooting medium, what's yours? What have you found to be most successful or not at all? Have you had success rooting outdoors, or under what color light? I am making up a little tray with materials we had and will be watering with reverse osmosis filtered water. Peat pods, perlite, peat moss and perlite, peat moss, coco coir and perlite, and coco coir. We has novermiculite or castings on hand at the moment.. ![20190718_133653.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/fklvTkd.jpg)

Well that's pretty cool I look forward to seeing how that turns out
This is fucking awsome!!!!! Love the pic!
I love using rock wool mini blocks. That’s what I use for cannabis. I haven’t gotten to the point of cloning Kratom. I know for cannabis it minimizes any disease or root rot you may get from any soil type medium. Have any of you tried it for Kratom cuttings. Don’t worry Cannabis is legal here in Massachusetts, so no laws are broken on my part. Hope you guys can give me some feed back on rock wool for Kratom. I look forward to cloning Kratom soon.
I am having better luck with the Rockwool ..and root gel ..also using azos beneficial bacteria
Following this because I have 3 mama and 2 babies that are getting to the point of doing clones (noth the babies yet) this is so neat
For reference, root gel generally means 1) HydroDynamics CLONEX Root Gel 0.3% IBA 100ml/18$ quart/96$ or 2) Technaflora ROOTECH Cloning Gel 0.55% IBA 7g x 2/8$, 2oz/18-25$ The other most common rooting hormone ive seen is 3) MiracleGro FASTROOT powder 0.1% IBA 5$/1.25oz 4) GardenSafe TAKEROOT powder 0.1% IBA 5$/2oz (Amazon pricing) Not sure if this sort of post is allowed? Sourcing etc rules? #1 should not be confused with CLONEX Cloning Solution, which is a 1-0.4-1 fertilizer, 20$/quart. It might be useful, I think it’s used in hydroponics and aerocloners. IBA is indole-3-butyric acid, a rooting hormone. It is produced in leaf tips and is sent to the roots by some active transport mechanism. It is generally suggested not to trim leaf tips while rooting cuttings; the proposed benefits of reducing transpiration and leaf growth to focus on rooting is generally not as good as the energy saved and produced by maintaining leaf tips whole. I am currently testing GardenSafe’s TakeRoot powder on three clones currently in perlite/peatpod. I have seen many good things about Clonex. Some suggesting Rootech.

I think the rules stated as long as we post as KDG private it won’t effect Will in his attempt to keep the iOS app. Not 100% sure though.
Posted my rooting setup for 3 cuttings here: https://kratomwatchdog.com/topic/2259/process-of-rooting-mitragyna-part-1 Roots! 7-10d ![FA951522-4585-47E8-BADB-DE52C47718C8.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/DKe6C8A.jpg) I like perlite as a substrate, but im not a fan of its propensity to grow algae... Rockwool is on the testing block this week.
