@MAC1 Reds will sometimes do that, give you a burst of energy, then fade to relaxation. Greens normally will keep that burst going for 3 or 4 hours. I'd still recommend a green, or at least mix a green with a red if necessary. The biggest way to get let down with Kratom is to "chase" a feeling. Addicts do it all the time. Not only will you fail, but most will blow their tolerance sky high in the process.

@mac1 Added note; There really are quite a few people in our community (the kratom community) who are "opposites". But again, Biz is on point because Green Strains are considered "middle of the road" so whether you an "opposite" or a "normal" Greens are the best place to start ![0_1549319903176_cool.png](https://i.imgur.com/ti40Bz7.png)
@ska maybe it’s just my imagination if it’s so unheard of?!?!

If reds are not opposite for some people? That’s what I got from your post? If I misinterpreted it than I apologize but I really do not get tired, relaxed from reds. Greens seem to do that to me.

Some people are opposites in that; Reds are energizing & Whites are sleepy. For most, the very general rule of thumb is that Reds are sleepy & Whites are energizing. Greens are middle of the road.

Do you mind my 2 cents worth? I have only been using it for a week or so, but I think I know what you mean. At first I thought it was going to make me feel 10 years younger and ready to rock and roll....and I have found it just makes me feel normal. Happy and normal and in my case, that gives me the energy to get on with my day. My pain is almost all gone and most importantly, the low level opiate withdrawal anxiety I seem to live with all the time due to a tolerance to meds and doctor refusal to increase dose is gone, which allows me to concentrate on all the other stuff I need to do. Its truly amazing. I take 2 grams twice a day mixed in a little chocolate milk and just drink it down in a couple gulps. It is nasty tasting for sure. My husband told me it smells like hay before I drink it. I hope I helped.
Well I guess it was to good to be true! Was hopeful that this would work in my favor. We shall see what happens, I have a ton of tea that will now go to waste. Thanks everyone for your great help and info!

I apologize but I am not entirely clear as to why you have, " *...a ton of tea that will now go to waste*"? I sincerely hope that will not be the case for you & if there is anything that I can do or explain, please do not hesitate to ask me, ok? ![0_1549529728375_flirt.gif](https://i.imgur.com/WdNZuQY.gif)
Neither am I ? Are you referring possibly to a court decision ( personal issue? Or?) Are you in a State in which it has been banned?
I think he just means it's not doing much for him, so what's the use...
@bizaro22 yes what you just stated is correct. Off to find other ways to stay on the right path. We shall see!
@bizaro22 and I’m actually a female 😊
@MAC1 Yes, you most definitely are! Sorry, my bad. Don't call the PC police on me....lol! Best of luck to you.

@mac1 lmao.. I get that ALL of the time
@mac1 so in reading through this thread I have to ask what no one else has asked (unless I missed it)....have you tried taking more than 5 grams at a time? You wrote several times that you don't take more than 5g at a time...maybe the problem.is that you need more? 5g is a moderate dose. 7-9g is considered a high dose, but some people need that much. Were you taking oxy for a pain condition? Also, have you been tested for any CYP450 mutations? (If you've been tested, you'll know what that is.) It sounds like you are a rapid metabolizer.
Yes @MAC1, @Miss-Maris makes a good point. While I normally don't recommend publicly for people to take larger amounts, especially for people with addictive personalities, she could be right and a larger amount might at least be worth trying. Although, at that amount "most" would get relaxed and not peppy, but we are all different so who knows. She is also correct about the CYP450 which is a mutation that can render Kratom ineffective for some. Personally, I still think some people are just not sensitive to it. My wife can have a sip of soda and be bouncing off the walls while I can have a pot of coffe and go to sleep. Kratom definitely worked wonders for me for withdrawals, but I just don't get anything else from it that's noticeable. One last thing, as you're only two months clean, it might take a while longer for you to feel the nuances of the leaf. Most will get a better appreciation for it the longer you are past your old habit.

@miss-maris @Bizaro22 Thank You to both, Riss & Biz ... very excellent points ![0_1550009500224_flirt.gif](https://i.imgur.com/fLu7z4r.gif) I hope to hear back from you, @MAC1
@miss-maris, I was after my c-section and became to love the feel, embarrassed as I say it! I’ve been off for two months now but I was hooked for 5+ years. I began reading about the tea and was hopeful?!?!? I feel lately that now I am in a funk and I think a bit depressed. Now that this will not work and how I thought it would? Like I stated before, I guess it was to good to be true! I wanted something to make me little happy and to take the edge off? I really can’t experiment with higher than 5 due to being a mother to my 5 year old and also my full time job. My husband has no clue and want to keep it that way!!! He is noticing a big change with me, I’m on edge and no patience anymore!! I was praying this would work so if you know of people that use it for “depression” than let me know? People state that green is good for it but I don’t notice? Thanks for everything!!
@mac1 Hello again, MAC. I truly want to understand you so please have patience with me for requesting clarification on this one point; *"I really can’t experiment with higher than 5 due to being a mother to my 5 year old and also my full time job."* Is this because you are concerned about the "effect" kratom may have on your being able to care for your 5-year-old & a full-time job? Is it the cost? Is it ...? Again, I apologize for my dense-headedness, MAC. However, if I can get this clear in my thick head I may still be able to help you. I definitely want to try because I believe I can empathize with the "place", *(I call it my "dark place")* you are in right now. I suffer from PTSD that manifests as: Disabling anxiety with frequent panic attacks; racing thoughts; inability to make decisions; shaky sweaty palms; severe insomnia; & like you, on edge & no patience. This type of anxiety is most often accompanied by depression. I generally use 2.1-2.3 grams/3 times per day. For "bad" days I may dose 4 or even 5 times per day & for "good" days I may only dose twice per day. I have learned to listen to my body. Also, some nights I may take a slightly larger dose of a one of my good sleepy Reds. For dosing cues, I have learned to listen to my body. My personal favorites are; SGB (Super Green Bali), RVI (Red Vein Indo), Green Malay, Red Bali & Golden Sunda. Please understand that it took some trial & error to find the Strains I prefer ... Sample Packs are great for this. I stay away from White Strains only because I have sampled many different Whites thru the 10 years I have been using Leaf, yet have found only two that I can tolerate. This is where sampling is so important ... we are all very different. I genuinely hope that you will find what works for you, MAC, & we are here to help in any way we can, ok? ![0_1550088140600_flirt.gif](https://i.imgur.com/wCtSc9w.gif)
I don't mean this in a bad way as I'm not one to judge, but it sounds like she might be looking for a substitute for Oxy and maybe bought into the false hype that it's a legal substitute, which it most definitely isn't. The type of "energy" Oxy gives you, you will not get from Kratom even if you're sensitive to it. If I'm wrong, my sincere apologies but that's how I'm reading it as I'm familiar with the "energy" boost she's referring to and that Oxy gave me as well.

Can’t argue with your comment as you know fully! I now know I won’t get this and I just need to get out of this funk I’m in. Maybe this stuff might help? As for the amount and understanding? I cannot play around with taking to much?!?! I was talking about me not being able to since I am either working or being a mom and cannot afford to be sick by the leaf.
@MAC1 Just know I wish you the best, but it also might not be a bad idea to give Kratom a little more time. With expectations in check, it can and has helped many with depression and mood lift. It's just very subtle and does take some time to appreciate. You might find your mood improving over time. Can't hurt. Plus, I think what Ska and I are both confused by is why you think you'll get sick by trying more. Just go up one gram at a time and see how it goes. If you get a little nauseous, which is worst case, then back off. I will say that most feel that higher doses gets you closer to what I think you're looking for, but it will never be the same.
